“Far, far above, piercing the infinite sky, Mont Blanc appears – still, snowy, and serene ”. When the poet Percy Shelley saw Mont Blanc, he was so fascinated by it that he dedicated a complex poem on Man and Nature to it. Both before and after Shelley’s eulogising of it, the 4810-metre-high mountain – Europe’s tallest – has never failed to fascinate all those who have yearned to reach it.
At its feet lies Courmayeur, a favourite haunt of the international jet set and a driver of the flourishing Alpine tourism industry. Here, luxury hotels are complemented by welcoming shelters and delightful mountain villages, where you can enjoy some serious rest and relaxation. Safe pistes with perfect snow offer unbeatable enjoyment for experts and beginners alike.
You don’t want to miss also the slopes of La Thuile, part of an international ski area bordering France.
Excursions up into the mountains on panoramic trails allow you to admire first-hand the impressive landscapes and the Alpine lakes with their emerald-green pools, and you may well catch sight of deer and roe deer, which like to wander through the meadows. All of this happens while, as the poet put it, “Mont Blanc yet gleams on high”.
